Former Premier League champions Leicester City were reportedly eager to sign AC Milan star Charles de Ketalaere in the bygone January transfer window, but the move did not materialize for lack of \u201cconcrete interest\u201d in the player.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Belgian youngster is currently not the first-choice playmaker for the defending Serie A champions under veteran manager Stefano Pioli, who is believed to be unimpressed with the player\u2019s development. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to Nextbet<\/a> Brahim Diaz, who was signed on loan by Milan from Spanish titans Real Madrid, has taken over the spot, and is the first choice for the Rossoneri barring injury or illness. Although Diaz\u2019s loan tenure expires at the end of the season, the expectation is that the two clubs will reach an agreement to complete a permanent transfer. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for Ketalaere, the attacking midfielder has had to make do with a supporting role, having only started seven out of 21 games for the Italian champions in the Serie A. His performances have been far from satisfactory, registering just the solitary assist in close to 900 minutes of league football. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nevertheless, de Ketalaere was reported to draw interest from three separate Premier League clubs, including league leaders Arsenal. Brighton were also interested in signing the player, but the only serious links came from Leicester City, who were apparently keen on getting the Belgian to the King Power. Leicester have been struggling this season, and are currently looking for players to better their squad as they look to salvage the campaign. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

De Ketalaere is believed to have been on the radar of these clubs for some time now, as they wished to sign the \u201cenigmatic\u201d Belgian. However, Italian journalist Carlo Pellegati reported that none of the sides made a serious offer for the 21-year old, if not for which he would be playing in the Premier League. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

“At the moment, he is very far from the player [Stefano] Pioli expects but I don\u2019t know of any intentions to sell De Ketelaere.
